Hear ye, hear ye!

The Interact Club of SMKBSD(1)  is hosting an International Understanding Day with the support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to raise awareness about the Refugees of Myanmar that are stripped from their basic daily needs and rights to food, education, shelter, safety and more as Myanmar is known as one of Asia’s poorest country. What is an International Understanding Day? It is a day to hold  cosmopolitan education which will produce loyalty towards world citizenship. We intend to give a better understanding and to introduce a new culture to the attendees towards the happenings and issues of Myanmar by having this event and contributing our efforts and money collected from the tickets for these people. Often, attention isn't directed to Myanmar. Therefore, we chose Myanmar as a country that we strongly want to promote feelings of internationalism to Malaysian citizens. The theme of our IU Day is Kaleidoscopic Myanmar. Other than their lack of sufficient basic needs, Myanmar is indeed a very beautiful and colourful country. Hence, the theme is to depict the essence of Burmese culture.

Time : 5pm - 10pm

 There will be lots of activities at our event. Well, you'll have to come and find out what we have install for you on that day! There will also be food and drink stalls.

Installation Day

INSTALLATION DAY.


  On the 9th of March, SMKBSD(1)'s Interact club held an Installation Day, whereby the new board of directors are installed by respected Rotarians. It went relatively smooth despite minor setbacks, which are inevitable. We had performances, videos made by our Interactors and also speeches that was presented by our Club President, Gayathri,our Event Director,  Kristen Yee and also the President of the Damansara West Rotary Club. 

       The event started off by projecting videos that were made by our very own Interact Club members. The videos were very creative and amusing to watch as they were entitled 'Knowing Me, Knowing You' which requires the Interactors to introduce themselves and their group members of this project. 
       Gayathri and Kristen gave their speeches about the goals and missions for this year's Interact club, which captured the hall's attentions because you can clearly see their passion and dedication for the Interact Club. Our IU Day Director, Kristen, projected her rather quirky and witty yet serious self through her speech. She stressed that this year's IU Day event isn't just about having a "WOOHOO....PARTAAAY" (quoted) time but it is also to promote feelings of internationalism and work towards racial harmony as citizens of the world. "We are all agents. Agents ready to go on a mission along with our motto 'Service Above Self'", Kristen stated.  President, Gayathri, gave a heartwarming speech about her journey on being a leader and finding her true passion which is to serve as a leader of the Interact Club. She also stated, "It is through Interact Club that I found what I really wanted to do with my life. I want to fulfill our tagline 'Service Above Self'". We are very grateful to have such a dedicated leader who has a big heart.
      
     
      We had three performances during the event, 'THE TABLE TAPPERS', 'TWINCEPTION ACAPELLA' and a dance performance from 'THE LAST MACHINE'. The performances were entertaining to watch and each performance was really good, the Rotarians seemed to really enjoy it! They even karaoke-d to the TWINCEPTION's performance. After the performances, our emcee for the day, Secretary, Sabrina and Vice President, Francine, introduced this year's board of directors to the Rotarians. Each director went on the stage and had their pictures taken with the Rotarians. 

     The event concluded with refreshments. Rotarians and the club members had a chance to socialise and ask each other questions. We showed the Rotarians our true capability and vision for this year's Interact Club, we are also confident that our new directors will carry out their responsibilities adequately and passionately.

Consistency

Consistency.   
We apologise for not uploading regularly and leaving unnecessary long gaps between each blog posts as school consumes a majority of our time. Things are getting pretty busy for the Interact Club of  SMK BSD (1) now that IU Day is on its way. There are so many things to get done ! And the fact that our midterm exam is just a month away does'not at all help. But we’ll pull through. Well, we did it last year didn’t we? We will try our best to keep our readers informed about our activities with more consistent blog posts. :)

Purchase some of our cupcakes for your loved ones along with a customized message to show how much you appreciate them. Packaging and delivery is for free. We would like to show  our love for society by donating 50% of the money that we’ve earned to charity. :D
