Bonding Time
Tuesday, 20 March 2012, 10:36
Every Wednesday is our curriculum day and our scheduled time is usually from 2pm – 3pm. For an hour long we would either discuss about our upcoming activites or play fun games with all 85 strong members. These past few weeks, we’ve played a couple of games. The first one was called, ‘The Line Game’ which is mainly inspired by the movie, Freedom Writers that all of us watched during our movie screening day.The game was played by the formation of two lines, where each line of members had to face each other and there was a straight line drawn in between the two lines. The president and vice president came up with a bunch of questions, for instance, “do you like Interact Club?”, “have you ever been hurt?”, “have you ever lied?” and the list went on. If the answer of the questions were true, members had to step up towards the line. So, this would indicate how similar we were to each other regardless our race, gender and religion. Some questions were more humorous and some involved a little thinking. It was fun knowing each other through this game and it definitely broke the ice among us.
The second game we played was called ‘The Shooting Game’. A huge circle was formed by all the members and each of us were given a number. Whenever the number was being called from the callers situated in the middle of the circle, we would have to duck down and the two people beside us had to shoot one another (by just showing a gun-like shape using our fingers toward each other). The one who shot the fastest, immediately killed the one who was shot, therefore he or her should be out of the game.
Here was our little twist, the ones who lost had to stand in the middle of the circle, introduce themselves and say one thing about them that they would like their fellow interactors to know. Lastly, the game was left with two remaining members and it was suppose to end that way as there were no more people to be shot in between them. So, the lesson learnt from the game was, in wars nobody could win. Think about it, with such a simple game we could conclude an outcome that wars could bring.
